Who are we?

Ametu is not a gym, and it’s not a massage studio. It’s an alternative manual therapy clinic run by someone with a physiotherapy education, six years of clinical experience, and a firm belief that the body works best when you address what’s actually wrong — not just where it hurts.

Philosophy

How we think of the body:

Pain is not the problem, It’s the signal.

Most people assume that where they feel pain is where something is wrong. Often, that’s not the case. The body is an interconnected system — tight hips can cause lower back pain, a tense neck can trigger headaches, and a compensation pattern that started years ago can create problems somewhere completely different.

That’s why we never jump straight into treatment. We always start by understanding what’s actually going on — a functional assessment of your posture and movement. Only then do we work on the cause, not just the symptom.

We want to be straightforward about what we are: Ametu operates as

alternative manual therapy — outside the Norwegian Health Personnel Act. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. We think it’s important you know this. Being honest about what we are — and what we’re not — is the only right way to work with you.

We don’t use machines. We don’t follow a standard protocol. We use our hands and a deep understanding of how the body is built — adapted to you and what your body needs right now.

I had been in pain for a long time, but after treatment at Ametu I noticed a significant improvement. Andrei is skilled and professional.”

Andrei

Founder and the mind behind the method

Andrei holds a physiotherapy degree from Romania, recognised by Norwegian health authorities. Over six years of clinical practice — first running his own practice, then working at a private clinic — he helped hundreds of clients regain mobility, manage pain, and get back to their everyday lives after injuries.

That academic foundation gives him a clinical understanding of anatomy and biomechanics that most alternative therapists simply don’t have. He doesn’t just know what works — he knows why it works, and what’s actually happening in the body when it does.

He is very respectful and professional, and you can tell he has an enormous amount of knowledge.”

Lise Katrine Halvorsen

During his studies he came across three manual traditions that are rarely found in Norway: Yumeiho, Amatsu, and Shiatsu. Rather than accepting them wholesale, he spent years testing which elements actually produced results — and discarded the rest. What remained became the foundation of Ametu: a combination of proven techniques, grounded in a clinical understanding of the body.

Yumeiho is a Japanese-Romanian manual tradition that works with skeletal symmetry and deep muscle attachments. Amatsu focuses on the body’s overall movement patterns and structural balance. Shiatsu — literally ‘finger pressure’ — targets tension points linked to stress buildup in specific muscles. Together, these three give a reach and precision that none of them has alone.

In 2019, all physiotherapy licences in Romania were temporarily revoked following major changes in healthcare legislation. For Andrei, that meant the end of the practice he had built. He chose to start over — and Norway was where he landed.

He has since built his life here, started a family, and settled in Molde. This isn’t a temporary stop. Ametu is a long-term project, and Molde is the home it’s built from.

He chose to open here because he saw a clear gap: people who fall between standard massage and physiotherapy — with real muscle and posture problems that nobody was properly addressing.

One thing worth stating clearly: Andrei is not an authorised physiotherapist in Norway. He has the education and the clinical experience, but Norwegian authorisation also requires one year of supervised practice — something he hasn’t completed yet.

He is actively working toward authorisation. In the meantime, Ametu operates as alternative manual therapy, outside the Health Personnel Act, without diagnosing or treating medical conditions. We believe being upfront about this is the right thing to do.

For the skeptics

We get it - this might sound a bit alternative

Ametu is not acupuncture, crystals, or energy work. We work with muscles, joints, and movement patterns — structures you can see on an X-ray and measure with a goniometer.

The techniques we use come from established manual traditions with long track records. Andrei has selected what works and left out what doesn’t. You don’t need to believe anything upfront. One session will tell you more than anything written here.

Where we're headed

The bigger picture

Ametu started with one person, two hands, and a lot of knowledge. The goal is to grow into a full health and rehabilitation centre — a place where manual therapy, movement, and recovery work together under one roof.

We’re not there yet. But that’s the direction, and every session is a step toward it. For now, the focus is simple: give you a treatment that actually makes a difference.
